Tea and Coffee

Written by our own dear Bosun.

Tea and Coffee

Extreme clippers
The fastest afloat
18 knots and that is no joke
400 miles sailed in a day
We drive them hard boys for tea and coffee

For tea and coffee
For tea and coffee
We’re sailing the oceans for tea and coffee

35 sails lads
To hand all the day
Straining the Halyards
And Pulling Away
Manning the windlass and
Manning the Yards
Day time and night time we’re driving her hard

The Captain’s a hard man and
Drives the crew on
No time for thinking
Of our girls back home
Keep changing the Sails lads and
Mending the spars
The fastest back home will be winning the prize

Sharp at the prow
She cuts like a knife
Hardly a bow wave
With a waist like your wife’s
Lovely to look at But
A bastard to sail
Speeding along in the teeth of a gale

The Suez Canal and
The age of steam
Came out of nowhere
And destroyed the dream
No more we’ll sail our old clippers so hard
All of them sent to the breakers yard and

The Cutty Sark
In dry dock she sits
They tried to destroy her
And break her to bits
But she lives right on now
A ghost from the past
She once sailed the oceans her passage was fast
